Dear friends,
Welcome to the latest edition of In Correspondence, and happy Lughnasadh! I’m writing from my home in Stockholm having recently returned from the Borderland. Tomorrow morning I will be on an early boat to the island national park of Gotska Sandön for the weekend 🏕️
What I’ve been up to

Laura and I took our summer holiday in the UK, mostly in and around dreamy Totnes
I attended the Symbiota team retreat (the worker co-op I work with that’s the home of Dandelion, True Nature, Adventures in Awareness and The Psychedelic Society)
I thoroughly enjoyed Buddhafield where highlights included Billie Maree, Anna Ling and Zuma Puma
I joined camp Hyperstition for The Borderland, where amongst much magic and mischief I co-facilitated a workshop Sincerely, Yours? The Metamodern Art of Ironic Sincerity with Raven Connolly, heard Andrés Gómez Emilsson speak in person for the first time and attended Nicki and Jocelyn’s wedding
Upcoming courses in September
Join me and special guests Hanzi Freinacht (Emil Ejner Friis), Ellie Hain, Alexander Beiner, Michael Garfield & Rufus Pollock for a four-week deep dive into Technological Metamodernism, 17th Sep – 8th Oct 2024, online. Read more and book your place
And/or, join me for my upcoming four-week Practical AI course, designed to get you comfortable using the latest AI tools, 16th Sep – 7th Oct 2024, online. Read more and book your place
Knowledgegraph
Since last time I’ve shared 15 items to my knowledgegraph. Some highlights:
The Wide Boundary Impacts of AI with Daniel Schmachtenberger
Ethan Mollick on AI: Gradually, then Suddenly: Upon the Threshold & Confronting Impossible Futures
I’m also looking forward to finding the time to digest these:
Vitalik Buterin on defensive acceleration and how to regulate AI when you fear government
The Consilience Project: Examining the concept of progress at the heart of humanity’s story
Andrés Goméz Emilsson on Psychedelic Computer Science & The Mathematics of Consciousness
and watch the films Water is Love and Where Olive Trees Weep.
